Loving Pooh Bear

“When you are a Bear of Very Little Brain, and you Think of Things, you find sometimes that a Thing which seemed very Thingish inside you is quite different when it gets out into the open and has other people looking at it.”

Good Morning... Wed 5th, 6.30, +4.3dg. Forecasting a little cloud, a little sun, a bit more Föhn and then, up higher, some light snow over night. Not one of our more stable, predictable winters!! Yesterday the inversion around the mountain cleared mid morning and made me think I should be elsewhere. Instead was in town meeting with a friend for a catchup coffee... and isn't that the thing to do for the women in Schruns.. it was a who's who of the village. Not really my scene at all, but a pleasant catchup all the same. Yesterday afternoon I finally did the laundry cupboards and drawers... Halo up and shiny thank you. How does a girl end up with four irons??? And perfect timing as the Recyclinghof is open on a Tuesday, so trundled all the unwanted and unnecessary up to the dump. Perfect. Was looking at Amazon.uk yesterday with a view to re-selling all Paulii's boxed sets of historical moments.. a distinct possibility. Either that or I take them to England to sell myself. I am thinking that I need to keep on cleaning, clearing and sorting all the drawers and cupboards so that it is not an "Ohh, My God" moment when I am not here!! This morning I have spent a lot of precious time trying to search a good economical trip to Skiathos to meet with friends from NZ in July... just love the internet when all goes according to plan and is easy to follow, but when you have six different tabs open trying to juggle and compare it is far from simple. Interestingly the prices vary from a thousand plus euros down to 400 euros.. amazing. End result... in the too hard basket. Today I have a free morning... sort of, and then a tuition with littles and a conversation group through the afternoon. Tomorrow if the forecast isn't telling fibbers I will be up in my mountain office for a couple of hours. Just thinking out loud... Enjoy.
Ohhh and BTW... can someone from NZ tell me if this is really a Maori proverb... not to be too rude, but it does seem a little unusual.

Team New Zealand for the 2014 Winter Olympics... Best of luck to you all..

Groovy Gloves guys!!!

Quietly Tuesday

“A man who trusts everyone is a fool and a man who trusts no one is a fool. We are all fools if we live long enough.”
Good Morning... Tues 4th, 5.38, +1.4dg. Clouds surrounding the mountains and weather forecasting for a little rain and cloudy morning clearing for afternoon. Should have skied yesterday as I was asked to do. Ho hum. Instead yesterday was spent at the photocopier creating boy and girl cardboard dolls and all the dress up clothes that go with them... talk about time consuming, and they still have to be coloured in so it involves all aspects of learning. Thank goodness I do not have a class of 30 children!!! My new LED strip lights were installed in the kitchen yesterday... at last I have something that turns on instantly, show the same colour and work, am I happy? they are fine, so that is OK. Not quite what I expected with the connectors, but it is better than what was there before and they tell me the LED's have a 15yr life. Will I care in 15years? Am debating whether to turn on my boot bag.. just in case... the mountain cloud can be deceiving as can the weather reports. Probably best to cover all bases. Today is a designated Moochie day so if I do not ski then I will have to entertain myself in some other way... I am expecting the delivery of my new chairs any day so it means that I really should be here and not down country. Also have to organise the collection of all the tree trunks very kindly donated to me by a friend... I am so hoping that I have not made a massive mistake in saying yes thank you. So it will be a quiet day here ... perhaps one to tackle the laundry cupboards if I am not up in my mountain office... they still have to be done!!

Sunday Aperitivos are never a good idea..

“Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.”
Good Morning... Mon 3rd, 5.49, +1.5dg. Incoming mixed bag of weather for the week, but they do say a Föhn wind through the week so that will give us warm temps... not required thank you. Today it is Monday and I am feeling quite fragile, actually very fragile and tired. According to Mr Wikipedia An apéritif is an alcoholic beverage usually served before a meal to stimulate the appetite, and is therefore usually dry rather than sweet. Common choices for an apéritif are vermouth; champagne; pastis; gin; rakı; fino, amontillado or other styles of dry sherry (but not usually cream sherry, which is very sweet and rich); and any still, dry, light white wine. Well, I can tell you that we had champagne.. quite a bit of champagne, but no meal as is suggested. I hadn't taken my bicycle as it was snowing when I left home at 10.45, Thank goodness... I wandered home at 4.30pm.. in a straight line... I think not, and it is a 25min walk. Gosh, one day I will remember whose place I am going to for aperitivos, and take a lunch box with me!! Today is obviously going to be done at a snails pace as the one foot in front of the other idea is quite tiring. I have the electrician arriving for 8am to put my new kitchen lights in so have to be up with my lipstick on. This afternoon I have two littles for tuition... a nana nap will be mandatory before hand. What a silly girl. Roll on Tuesday. Bears may kill you, but coming a close second place is way too much bubbly at her place.

Social Sunday

“People who count their chickens before they are hatched act very wisely because chickens run about so absurdly that it's impossible to count them accurately.”
Good Morning... Sun 2nd, 6.00, +1.9dg. Forecasting for snow showers through the day and the evening clearing Monday.Very definitely precipitating outside at the mo but too dark to really tell. There has been snow at some stage as it is on the trees, but not on the ground so must be wet. Yesterday was one of those hundred job muddly days, and lots done. When it was obvious the weather gods were not going to play nice and provide good race conditions for FIS racing in both areas the pin was finally pulled at 14.00, so I then spent the afternoon updating and re-doing my photo wall in the hallway. No mean feat, but it was time to have an update. Shifted some furnitures around between the levels, and not sure I like it, but then you do have to live with the change for a week or so to get used to the different look. Still pfaffing in the Dachboden with the arm chair arrangements. Will it ever end, or more correctly, will I ever be satisfied ? Today I have been invited out for Aperitivos... as it is a Sunday I allow myself to indulge... Aperitivos considered OK for Saturdays and Sundays.. that is a big improvement on the former of seven days!! As the weather is inclement I may wimp it and take the bus, decision later, but before the play time I have a stack of bed linen to iron, as I know I will not do it on my return. Things to do, places to go... Happy Sunday.

February 1st..

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle was between 2 "wolves" inside us all. One was Evil. It was anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other was Good. It“ was joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed.”

Good Morning... Sat 1st Feb, 6.05, -2.7dg. Pinch and a punch for the first of the month. Wow... Feb already. A reasonably fine day forecast with incoming snow tonight tomorrow. Yesterday they said the same, and by 11.00 the sun was streaming in the windows.. I get that forecasting the weather is tricky, but !! So instead of a grey miz overcast day it was a lovely day and that meant getting out to do walking chores. Conversation was all I had yesterday as both tuitions were sick.. it is good when people stay at home with their bugs!! I did all my bookings for New Zealand and the in between stops and accommodation, so sorted, now to get on replace the money spent!! Was stopped in the Post Office yesterday afternoon by an older woman asking about the conversation groups I hold.. she is coming for a test drive with next Fridays girls as they will not be five next week... result. Today my guest checks out so the day will be spent putting the place back to readiness for next weeks incoming. He tells me he has slept in two beds as the big bed in the bedroom was too soft. No comment. But he did offer to pay me extra. No comment. Hopefully the weather and snow pack is in good race order for the FIS racing from St Moritz and Kranjska Gora... first race is scheduled for 10am, so it will be quite a bit of fine tuning between the Dachboden, laundry and sitting room to achieve it all. Best of all I will have the house to myself. Happy Saturday.
