Wearing my furniture removal hat

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all - in which case, you fail by default.”

Good Morning World... Wed 15th, 5.35, +1.6dg.... I have no problems being woken this morning at 4.45 by the snow ploughs doing the first run on the road outside... yay, it is in the village. Incoming forecast is for fine today and then a little flurry Thursday night. Yesterday it was snowing as day dawned and didn't stop until around 8pm last night... a very happy girl doing a whole lot of bump bump wiggle wiggle clap clap !!  I went out mid afternoon to shovel the snow from the paths and driveways as it was too wet for the snow plough. I love it when you could start all over again after you have finished the first clear, this is what winter should be like. Yesterday I made an executive decision after a long discussion and measure process... yes the arm chairs will go up the stairwells to the dachboden. Will I wait for help.. nope, just rolled my sleeves up and became master shifter alone. Holy shit, what was I thinking. Perhaps my brain thinks my power and ability is actually greater than it really is. Either that or I am getting old. I was thinking to myself at one stage as I was being pushed back down the stairwell into the Grandfather clock, ooooohh I hope the door bell doesn't ring as I am well stuck. There was quite a bit of out loud talking going on as to how to finish the job that I had started and was now firmly stuck in the stairwell jammed between the windows and the stair lift rails.. It never occurred to me how strenuous the job would be, after all it is only two flights of stairs but the killer is the curves in the stairs. Job done... two armchairs installed into the Dachboden, the small leather two seater taken from the sitting area into the bedroom for TV time, the leather armchair from the bedroom to the sitting area to make comfy seating for three, and lastly the old leather arm chair, an original from Paulii's early days, and I mean early days, dragged backwards down stairs and thrown out on the terrace!! All achieved with no real damage to anything apart from a little marking on the paint.. that I can fix. Exhausted. and this was all before lunch. I will enlist help to get the old armchair to the re-cycler as I do not think I can fit it in my little trailer. I could hold a seriously large gathering in my sitting room now as it is looking very spacious. Today I have a day of people in, people out, two littles at 14.00 for tuition and then conversation at 16.00. A little homework and prep needed for both lots, so a quiet morning in the office, after I have done my snow clearing. The view from my windows today, when day dawns, should be spectacular.

No AFD's for me.... not yet

I distrust camels, and anyone else who can go a week without a drink.

Good Morning World...Tues 14th, 5.50, +1.9dg and sinking. The weather out the window is not available at the moment !!!
Hochjoch-Schruns Weather Summary: A moderate fall of snow, heaviest on Tue morning. Perfect, but none to fall here in the village.  I hear the skiing is quite good so perhaps it is time for me to go up when the weather lifts. Yesterday was a dry day with high broken cloud... and boy were there some heli-vacs, the first at 9.15!!! The heli port has been quite busy of late, possibly indicative of either the snow conditions or the skiing ability, or perhaps both !! Blessed are those at home  My young guests left yesterday afternoon direction Germany... what a lovely young couple who are hooked on skiing now and want to come back before seasons end.. brilliant. They left the Dachboden in superb condition, and that is always welcome. First littles tuition .. back in the saddle, am using some slightly different methods now and incorporating a self assessment sheet after each exercise for them to check how they found the work. When they come as two buddies their level of understanding and knowledge is never the same, so it is always a challenge to engage both for the hour when they are sometimes at such different levels. And that my friends is why I pour a glass of something well deserved at the end of it all...Panic not tuition is always late in the afternoon!!! Today I am putting the Dachboden to rights for incoming guests on Friday, just ticking along.. and the amount of incoming requests is most satisfying. Morning conversation with my dear little mother on Skype... gosh, thank goodness for modern technology !!! Happy Tuesday.. for me it is a day with no one coming through my front door..  FYI there is no success with AFD's. not at the moment.

Not a bit of confusion..

The most confused we ever get is when we try to convince our heads of something our hearts know is a lie...

Good Morning World... Mon 13th, 6.12, -2.7dg... yay minus grad!!! I can see a dark starry morning sky and a dry road.. incoming snow this evening and tomorrow but a sunny to start the day today. My guests are off up the mountain for the day before heading back home this afternoon they have loved it so much.. so much so, that the young man in the couple is determined to be on the first lift up the hill.. much to the horror of his tired and achy girlfriend!! Bless them they are so lovely.. we sat together last night and had a lovely couple of hours with a bottle of red. My day yesterday was spent mainly blobbing in front of the television watching the FIS racing... my boy Hirscher did a stunning job .. wow, was convinced he had lost the advantage but came across the line in first.. what an athlete. The Chuenisbärgli in Adelboden is a tough piste. Today it is skates on to clean the Dachboden in preparation for incoming guests later in the week. Quick trip into Bludenz to finalise a purchase then my first littles English tuition re-starts this afternoon. Have prepared a two page test / quiz.. will it make them happy... hmmm not so sure!!  Watch this space. The week is going to be full of incomings for tuition and conversation.. back to normal really after my time away since October. They say winter is coming this week.. yes please, but I will wait and see how that translates to snow on the ground. The opportunity to get the snow plough out would make me smile. I won the battle over the head and heart confusion... sensible Moochie won out. As you do. My sister in law will be disappointed with me but I know the decision is a correct one.

Lazy Sunday.

A man doesn't know what he knows until he knows what he doesn't know.

Good Morning World... Sun 12th, 6.00, +1.3dg and there are stars in the night sky. Today they say sunny with a high of 11dg. Positively summery. Last snow was on the 10th.. what they call a dusting. No comment. Yesterday was another test of stamina.. The phone rang at 7.30am and it was my guests from Germany standing outside my front door... pre arranged ETA in was for 5pm, but they decided to arrive and drop luggage before they went up the mountain for a 10am private. Thankfully I was up and dressed just no face on.. fabbo. Off to my cleaning job and that was full on until 12.30, but yesterday luckily I did not feel the need to behave like a council worker and rest on the vacuum cleaner hose. Progress. Home in time to watch the FIS alpine racing with a well deserved chilly glass with lunch. It is after all the weekend, so am allowed to have aperitivo. The afternoon was spent on the ironing machine sorting all the new bed linen that I unpacked from the delivery from NZ, cupboards now full and the pressure is off the need to do fast turn around wash, dry and iron. Gosh... halo positively glowing. My two guests are two of the nicest young things from Nuremberg Germany, quiet as little church mice.. could have something to do with being exhausted from the 4 hours private tuition that he bought her as a Christmas gift,... she has never skied before!! Today I am going to sit down and plan the course work for the return start of all my littles.. first day is a test of memory day, as the last session I had with any of them was October. This will be an interesting week, and an indicator of my ability as a TOEFL. As it is Sunday I will be parked on my trusty to watch the boys and girls do there thing... Altenmarkt / Zauchensee (AUT) 09:30 Super Combined | Ladies | WC
12.01.2014 Adelboden (SUI) 10:30 Slalom | Men | WC.
All in all a blissful day doing things I enjoy, and for your information my new profile is not indicative of our current winter status... I am patient.

Weekend time.

Convincing yourself doesn't win an argument.

Good Morning World... Sat 11th, 5.20, +2.5dg. Slightly different snow line after the weather yesterday, so some new snow up on the piste but all runs down to the villages now not operational. Yesterday here in the village it rained until middle day and then the weather just limped along. Today forecasting sun then snow rain showers in the afternoon. My day yesterday just skipped along.. first with Friday conversation group then down to the post office to collect parcels, what was detailed as one turned into three.. finally the box of linen from NZ. I then took the train into Bludenz to do some search and find, mainly as the day before's search and find was incomplete. If a girl had a full list, ho hum....... Late afternoon home and spent the rest of daylight filling wood stacks and getting sorted generally. Today am off to clean and then guests arriving late afternoon, so all in order and ready for them. In the meantime am hoping to sit to watch, but am setting the recorder just in case.
Adelboden (SUI) 10:30 Giant Slalom | Men and in Altenmarkt / Zauchensee (AUT) 11:45 Downhill | Ladies . Was it just me or was the rest of the world having problems with email glitches yesterday... Yahoo seems to be having issues, and Gmail didn't want to play either, so consequently my systems spent the day telling me they could not get mail as could not connect to server. Today sorted, providing the weather plays its part. Happy Saturday.

Crazy baby..

Everything you will ever need will come to you at the perfect time.

Good Morning World...  Fri 10th, 6.02, +5.0dg and persisting down with some wind. The Hoch-Joch snow forecast tells me there was snow overnight and will continue lightly snowing until late morning... smiley face.  I do wonder when we will get it down in the village, but at +5dg, not today, that is for sure. Yesterday was Thursday.. my day off and so it was. Uneventful, slow and really rather delicious. I had the chimney sweep in for his regulation 6 monthly clean and other than taking the rubbish to the re-cycler and a long walk to the Lidl I pleased myself. Have been doing some measuring to see if I can fit the couch and chairs from my sitting room up into the dachboden.. Everything is achievable, but Lordy it will take some juggling especially up the stairwells, and no, not on my own, I will get men to help and I will direct!! Have decided that I can get something more suited to my tastes for downstairs  and they will be slightly smaller in width... bonus. Today I have my conversation girls at 10 and then I will sit down and watch the DH practise from Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, Austria. It will be interesting to see what sort of snow cover they have there. Tomorrow morning I have my other job and then incoming guests from Munich for skiing.. the weather should be good for their stay. Yesterday the Poppet was a little crazy... something to do with new found ability to walk and her age perhaps..!!

On top I think !!

“Now then, Pooh," said Christopher Robin, "where's your boat?"
"I ought to say," explained Pooh as they walked down to the shore of the island, "that it isn't just an ordinary sort of boat. Sometimes it's a Boat, and sometimes it's more of an Accident. It all depends."
"Depends on what?"
"On whether I'm on the top of it or underneath it.”
Good Morning World... Thurs 9th, 6.23, +2.1dg. Forecasting for a clear day with light snow showers up on the mountain tonight and early tomorrow... it is accumulating, slowly. More incoming early next week. Yesterday was one of those seamless days that just sailed quietly.. well for me and my track record, really, it wasn't bad. Christmas has finally been totally expunged from the house, now I am waiting to make three bags to store the tree parts into, as my re-organisation of the attic means I am no longer storing any Christmas things up in the crawl space. This is a constant problem for me.. start one job create a hundred others because of it... One day I will be complete. My new Wednesday conversation group is five lovely ladies... I can see that it will be as much fun as the Friday group... brilliant. It is astonishing to me the desire that the older people in this little village have to improve the English they learnt in school all those years ago. It seems as though there is another group of women who want to come along with this new group... I maintain five is the max so they all get a chance to talk, so that will mean another group and their choice of time is now very limited, I have only Monday and Tuesdays mornings left. ... I have decided that Thursdays will be for me.. a Moochie day... no little's tuition, no conversation groups, a day for me to please myself. Yay. Tomorrow I have incoming guests, and my original conversation ladies.. Am I on top of it or underneath it ? you decide.. Enjoy
