Friday evening... 15th September...September is always a difficult month but... Positives .. Oh Yay, the weather man gave us a whole day without rain and... temps at 21dg. Flippers back in the cupboard until tomorrow so I understand. It has been a desperately wet winter. Positive, I have a Poppet on sleepover. Cute as two sets of boots, love, love, love. Negatives. This house. Not to be too bogged down with the close your eyes and you will not see it stuff that winds me up, let me cover off the glaringly obvious, in your face, shouting like a fish wife, wanting to punch someone issues. Today I had a "craftsman " from Auckland come to grind four concrete repair patches that the builder created when he whacked two 4x2 beams onto the concrete pad to brace the walls. Not in plan, not required on voyage. No one can understand why the builder did it knowing it was polished concrete floors. Moron.Tradesman Stuart was here several weeks ago to dig out exsisting repair plugs and try to work his magic. No vacuum cleaner to clean his massive mess. Used mine. Today he rocks up to grind the repairs down to floor level, I ask, before he starts, has he got plastic sheets to cover the kitchen benches, cupboards and the pantry from concrete dust. All the things I requested. No prizes for that one. Did he bring a vacuum cleaner to try to cope with the concrete dust did he heck. So I stopped him from doing the work. We had an exchange of words and he went to sit in his van until the the Quality Assurance man from Classic arrived to mediate. I moved into this house 2 weeks before Christmas 2016. Today, September 15th 2017, I am still surrounded and annoyed by tradesmen. Incompetents, morons, fools, idiots, imbeciles, total feckwits... seemingly a glimpse of the way the New Zealand building system now works. Stuff the all care and no responsibility, just whack me with a no care and couldn't give a toss attitude. Several months ago I had a critical meeting with the group builder I chose to build this place. A house. Yes. A home. No. I started the meeting with a recorder on the table to record my demands and their responses. Protect me as no one else will. I have a fireplace, brilliant, a Stovax, and it pumps fantastic heat but in providing me with heat it keeps cracking the wall around the fireplace. The wall has been replaced once only to crack again. I have said take it out. Refund me. Let me put another source of heating in this house. The provider / installer who in my opinion and that of the build company has been totally negligent in all they have done from the very initial installation, have said no, we will replace the wall again and vent the outside chimney breast and then see what happens. Eff Me. No, I have no confidence, the fire pumps out too much heat. I will no longer sit here in my sitting room with furniture under dust covers and all the wall fittings on the floor. Come to the bloody party please Western Bay of Plenty District Council. I have lodged a complaint with them as they signed off the faulty installed fireplace, and they demanded a new resource consent be lodged for the repair and still have not fronted here in the house to look, check, sign the second repair off, and now we are back to square one. A broken wall, The Fireman absolutely refusing to refund and a build company ripping their hair out a they have to deal with me the owner of the defective house. Factor in a lateral meniscus waiting on an MRI and operation. Ahhh New Zealand. This was a really bad and hugely expensive mistake.
