“Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody.”
Good Morning World... Mon 9th, 6.12, 12dg and the sky this morning in Christchurch is a high broken overcast but the day should become sunny. Yesterday was a good ground soaker and after the wizard Nor'west winds of the last couple of days I imagine much needed happiness for gardens. Final days in New Zealand.. I have been treated like a queen where ever I have been and the time spent with my precious girls and Mother has been a blessing. Leaving Wanaka was terribly hard for all sorts of reasons, but farewelling Mel and the Poppet at Christchurch airport was the hardest. Our flight from Queenstown was like being in a tumble dryer.. the turbulence was incredible for most of the flight, and passengers in our immediate vicinity not handling it at all... if you get my meaning... the Poppet was fascinated by the poor woman across the aisle!!! At the moment I am staying with my sister and her almost husband... sadly I will miss their wedding which they are having here at the house on the 23rd Dec, but Mum and my other sister will be here. Cannot be everywhere!! I was taken on a whistle stop tour of Christchurch on arrival, post earthquake, my emotions were at rock bottom after all the departures but standing in front of our iconic Christchurch Cathedral was an emotional moment... I have grown up in this city and cried as I looked at the changes that have been forced on Christchurch and its residents... Yesterday I was blessed to enjoy a luncheon with dear friends, thank you Mr and Mrs D... it was lovely to be one at your table and to catch up with you all, must remember not to discuss Nigella in front of Max . Last night there was a quiet dinner party here with more old friends... quite eaten and drunk out, it has been a long two months. Today I am spending the day with one of my original friends from school, we met as 5 year olds, but the beauty of sitting with friends is that it is always so simple and pleasurable regardless of the last time you hugged. I am hoping for a night off tonight, quietly spent in the company of Diana and Rowly then tomorrow it is bags packed direction Singapore.
