I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a "life."
Good Morning World... Thurs 19th, 6.14, 1.9dg.. Ohhh we are in the positives... and the forecast is for rain a little later today. That will hopefully clear the ice patches on my path and driveway that I have not been able to shift. Yesterday was a trip to my hairdresser, so now am looking picture perfect for Christmas... well, that's my story. My hairdresser is so shocked that I am going to start cleaning to earn a euro that he has made some work suggestions for me... could be interesting. Home for a little aperitivo, lunch and the creation of some more sweet fancies, then off into Bludenz to get some table bits n bobs. I must admit I was naughty.. well very naughty really , as I had already completed two Christmas presents for myself, one which has been delivered and one on the way... now I have a third. Opps. But really, in all honesty you have to have something to open on the 25th. Ahhh.. life's little pleasures. This morning I have a visit from an Australian woman who comes every year with her two little boys and spends six months here in Austria up in Bartholomäberg .. we met on the bridge at the swimming club comp last week as we were shouting encouragement at the littles. Her husband, Austrian, works on a fly in fly out arrangement in the middle east so she places the children here in school .. fantastic way of life for the children.. they learn the language, learn to ski, learn about life in Austria. Later my day will be back in the kitchen, making the Christmas mince pies, pastry made yesterday so today will roll, fill and bake. Made the "do ahead" gravy last night and it is in the freezer, will make the stuffing today and freeze ready for cooking on 25th. I just Jamie Oliver. He is so practical and the recipes never fail. Tick tick tick. Opened a bottle of red out of the cellar last night.. just a test drive to see if it was still drinkable... it was a 1999 French red that was one of the many I bought over from NZ when I shifted the house. I am impressed... those of you who know me will be well impressed.. it is not often I drink a red, but am thinking to serve it on Christmas day so a girl must be sure of the drinkability... Just saying !! So countdown now into single digits.. Forward motion ...full speed...
