Wednesday 31st January, 5.00, -4dg, a little thin wispys across the big fat moon, snow glowing, lights twinkling and flags standing still. This is probably the last good day for a week according to the long range forecast. Today we are expecting the same as yesterday, morning clearing to a sunny day with a little high cloud, and an expected high of +8dg. Sunscreen day again. Yesterday we had a day of driving to do. 7.30 am, started in Klaus / Weiler Vorarlberg, then I went into Dornbirn while she was at her appointment... children's H&M @MesseparkDornbirn is a good pace to while away quite a bit of time. From Weiler to Göfis just outside of Feldkirch to look at stone selection for a basin, from there onto Lichtenstein for the one thing you do there. Now my tummy is thinking my throat is cut. 13.30 time to pause for lunch so back into Feldkirch for lunch up at the glorious Schlosswirtschaft Schattenburg - @SchattenburgCastle which houses a museum and restaurant. She says you must try the schnitzel... I am not a schnitzel lover as they all seem to come pre frozen and dropped into a deep fryer these days... total cardboard... give me a lovingly prepared pan fried schnitzel and I would be in seventh heaven. This plate came out with the schnitzel hanging over the ends of the plate I kid you not. Verdict..Quantity over quality. It was so large I had to stand to photograph it !! The salad was nice. 😉 From Schattenburg we then did the Steuerberater, then the Interspa Bludenz and back to Schruns... 16.30. Today the boot bag is plugged into heat, I have the yoga run at 8.00 and then I am back here into ski clothes and up the hill. Photos for the pleasure of my door loving friend ❤️

Tuesday 30th January, 4.00, -1dg, a huge fat, bright, shiny moon that is making the snow glow, and flags sitting quietly. it is setting up to be a good day. Yesterday was one out of the box. I lifted up quietly on my own... bliss... skis on 9.15 and down to the PanoramaBahn to lift out to the back. Wow. the snow was in superb condition, the people not so many and there was corduroy for brilliant skiing. 5 cobweb clearing runs off the PanoramaBahn and then 5 slightly more sedate runs from the PanoramaBahn, a couple of runs off the T bar and then out through the tunnel. Non stop run from the top of the Panorama to the Kropfen and oh my Lord were my legs screaming as I came over the brow at mid station to head down to the Kropfen. Sneaky bretzel and veltliner @GasthausKropfen... quietly high fiving myself. Absolutely fantastic, and for the fact that I bought mid range nana skis, thinking of my knee, #Völkl never fails to impress. ❤️ Back at the house by midday, quick change and fluff up then off to Bludenz to do some exchange and purchasing. Penultimate day of January.. Oh my word, where is the time going ? Today is chauffeur duty day into Feldkirk for meetings and selections. No skiing today... 😶... and then the weather is supposed to collapse for several days. We shall wait and watch.

Mon 29th Jan, 5.00, -1dg, no flag movement, the stars twinkling and I can see to the top of the Golm ski field. Today is going to be a pearler. Boot bag plugged in and as I am not needed for any chauffeur duties today I will go up and do some miles on my skis quietly alone. This is a smiley face happening. Saturday was a beautiful day on skis with all the Australians on their final hurrah before heading off to other ski areas. We finished their week in Schruns with dinner @MontafonerHof up in Tschagguns. Pic credits to Maggie. Sunday was a slow day as it was a very late night for me.. up ready for my weekend task for 8.00 pick up. Back to the house for Sunday roast lunch and then into bed for a nana nap!! How tragic is that. The light was flat all day so a good day spent doing other things. Watched the men racing at Garmisch as we sat with a drink before lunch.... @MarcelHirscher is in a league of his own. Today I am up the mountain in "Pleasing Myself " mode. La La La La La.

Saturday 27th Jan, 5.30, 0dg with a tiny flag flutter. Looking out the window I cannot see to the top of the mountain, but the HochJoch is forecasting a sunny day. Boot bag is plugged in... yes it is Saturday but it will only be a 9.30-12 ski morning as you do. No tasking for me today but am on for tomorrow so can make a few runs this morning while the weather is fine. Yesterday, after my session at the hairdresser, we sat outside for lunch in glorious sunshine. We also finally placed the little Piwakawaka that I brought over from New Zealand. We have pierced him into the grape vine leader in the garden so it is always visible out on the sun terrasse. In the afternoon I walked into the village for a lovely afternoon catchup in the Löwen Hotel Schruns. Bubbles and chat, a perfect afternoon with Margaret Sutcliffe. Time is passing quickly .. it is almost the end of Jan, and Feb is always a short month. Sad face. It is so noticeable in the evenings, when I first arrived back in December it was pitch dark at 16.30 - 17.00 and the young one here in the house left for school in the dark at 6.30am and arrived home in the dark at 17.00, now we have evening light until well after 17.00. It makes walking into the village in the evenings rather lovely. It is spring weather here but I do not think winter has finished its job yet.
