Monday 22nd Jan, 5.30, out my window +1dg, low cloud ceiling, the flags are still, and I cannot see to the top of the mountain. Forecasting rain. Yesterday it snowed all day in varying degrees and by mid afternoon it started to drop in flakes the size of a fifty cent piece. By 20.00 we were under a beautiful light fluffy snow drop around the house that sent people out onto the verandah to play silly buggars. No skiing yesterday as the lifts were limited by wind and the viz would have been terrible. It was a day for card games. Today the snow ploughs have their work cut out for them and they are forecasting rain with an increased avalanche warning. Plans for today were tentatively set last night but we wait for dawn to confirm. I am on chaufeur duties for the foresaeeable, so we will need good co-ordination in the house.
