#SoVielSchnee #ExtremeAvalancheWarning #RainSnowRainSnow #LetsJustDrink
Tuesday 23rd Jan, 6.30, +1.0dg. Soggy wet yuk. Out my window the flags are still, there is rain falling and the ceiling is very low on the mountain. Forecasting rain this morning clearing this afternoon. Many areas still closed due to severe avalanche risk, here in the valley the back side of the Hoch Joch was closed yesterday and is still listed as closed. We braved the weather yesterday and decided to test the snow pack. Wrong, bad, silly !! It rained as we lifted up to a level not far below the main station when rain turned to snow. Front side of the Hoch Joch operating only, one test ski down to the Seebliga lift and I pulled the pin. Life is way too short to ski when you have no viz because of heavy wet snow fall. I left the boys to it and lifted down looking like a snowman. Another meeting with the bank at 15.00, so la la, and then social hour... well it was supposed to be a simple social hour for a final drink with a friend returning to Australia. Here in Schruns, simple, orderly ??? Never. First I meet another crazy Australian friend by the Bahnhof, so set to meet @TaubeHotel. Message to the boys and so it starts. Oh my word. I may have single handedly kept a vineyard in profit last night. A fab evening ending up at Francos for late supper. We walked home with much complaining from the boys in the teeming rain around 22.00. No taxis or buses running at that hour in our little village. Precious vessels from England !! Brilliant news from yesterday has to be complete total thumbs up to the honesty or ignorance of the train travellers from Schruns to Bludenz last Friday. My wonderful brother had purchased two bottles of Veuve Cliquot and had left them on the top luggage rack of the Montafoner Bahn, our little local rail in the valley. We rang and alerted them to left luggage later that afternoon, and it was still on the luggage rack when the train pulled into Bludenz. Wow... anywhere else in the world ??? ❤️ Today I am feeling old... we have a tentative ski date. This afternoon the Japanese Jump team are at the @NordicSchanzenzentrum so we are considering walking down to watch the jumping this afternoon. The world is our oyster im moment even if the weather is not.
